Chapter 349: Going deep into enemy territory

Fifteen miles northwest of Wallenberg, among the gentle hills of the plains, wisps of bonfire smoke rose into the sky and turned into layers of mist. The weather was getting colder and colder, and snowy winter was coming.

In a small cave on the side of the hill, Ron took off his combat boots and baked them on the bonfire in front of him. Odo and Colin on the side also imitated Ron's example and put their boots and socks in front of the bonfire to dry them. The cave was instantly filled with an eye-catching foot odor.

"Brother Otto, why don't you go outside and bake, your socks are too...smoky to the eyes~" Ron deliberately wiped his eyes with a look of disgust and disgust on his face.

"Your socks are not smelly, but you have the nerve to tell me."

"Mine are not smelly, don't you believe you can smell them?" Ron put his socks in front of Odo's nose.

Otto took a sniff and found that it didn’t really stink too much.

"You little guy, when did you learn to be clean? Your socks used to be the smelliest."

Collin smiled and said, "Lord Odo, brother Ron is different now. He is no longer a boy. "Oli, the maid next to Madam, loves to be clean, so our little brother Ron has to wash himself before sending him to Ollie's bed."

Odo and Colin had evil smiles on their faces, and a rare smile appeared on Ron's ferocious face.

"Why are you guys laughing?" Art, who had just returned from patrolling the post, walked into the cave. Ron quickly went up to take off Art's cold and heavy chain mail, and put on a slightly more comfortable bearskin cloak.

Matt sat down on the wooden stake that Odo had moved over. He put his hands on the bonfire to warm them for a while and felt that his feet were cold. He raised his feet and pulled off his long combat boots. He took off his socks and placed them on the bonfire flames. After a while, the socks began to steam.

"Ahem, um, sir, I'm going to see if their dinner is ready. It's been a long time and it hasn't been delivered." Odo took a breath and ran out of the cave as if he was running away.

"Sir, it's my turn to be on guard duty in the second half of the night. I'll go get Rigg back." Colin also ran out following Odo's tail.

"It's just getting dark, why did you change the whistle?" Art looked confused.

Colin pretended not to hear and left quickly.

Hence Ron and Art were the only two people left beside the bonfire in the cave, but Ron's expression was also very strange.

"Ron, what's wrong with you? You're not feeling well."

Ron waved his hands repeatedly, "Master, you~" Ron pointed at Art's socks.

Matt has had a stuffy nose recently, and he really doesn’t feel much.

  "My socks? What's wrong?"

"Master, why don't you give me your socks, and I'll wash them and dry them for you in the evening, you're so~"

At put his socks up to his nose Under the tip of his chin, there was indeed a pungent feeling in his eyes, "My feet~ I should have asked your wife to prepare a few more pairs of boots and socks for me. Okay, you go and wash them for me."

Matt threw the socks aside as he said that. Even he himself despised the pair of socks.

Ron picked up Art's socks and turned around and ran out of the cave.

Matt took a deep breath of the air and asked, "Is it that smelly?"

 .........

In the military tent next to the Lord's Hall of Wallonburg.

Tuba has just entered the city from the car formation in the north of the city, carrying a message sent by Matthew Kuai Ma, the bodyguard of Art, "Sergeant Major, your Excellency sent a quick horse to send a message. They have safely evacuated to the scheduled camp. In the battle in the dense forest, twenty-one of our troops were killed, and more than a hundred enemy troops were killed by our traps! Your Majesty has specially sent a message to commend you for participating in the deployment. Everyone in the trap. In addition, this is a secret order issued by your Excellency. Your Excellency has deployed the next combat mission of the First Infantry Regiment." Angus took Art's order and quickly scanned it. "Tuba, call all officers above the flag captain to the military camp. Messenger, go and invite the Baron to the military tent."

“Sergeant Major, what are your orders?” Tuba asked before leaving.

Angus rolled up his order and said, "Your Majesty, please let us leave the heavy armored infantry and a flag regiment to guard Wallonburg. The cavalry and infantry will carry chariots and go west to gather near Geneborg." ?"

"No, my Lord is going to attack the city of Bufan, east of Geneborg."

Tuba recalled a little, "Bufan City? That's already the border of Swabia!"

 "Snowy winter is coming soon."

  …..

One day later, the Yona Border Guard Corps suddenly appeared in the open space outside Geneborg.

The army that suddenly appeared included six standard infantrymen of the First Infantry Regiment, four selected infantry standard regiments of the Second Infantry Regiment, the Dead Guards, the Cavalry, the Baron Guard (Military Law Corps) and more than forty chariots, totaling 650 people.

The heavy armored infantry team, the crossbow team, a combat flag team and four prisoner flag teams were transferred to Wallonburg and two small village forts near Wallonburg to garrison against the enemy.

Looking at the more than 600 fully armed Burgundian soldiers outside the city, the more than 250 Swabian troops stationed in Geneborg were a little panicked. Many of them had just experienced the battle in the gap in the dense forest and had seen the insidiousness and cunning of the Burgundians. They were not afraid of the enemy attacking the city, but they were afraid of the enemy's deception.

So when the Burgundian army was still seven or eight miles away, the Swabians immediately sent fast horses to the central command camp of the Swabian army in Onan City to report the situation, announcing that thousands of Burgundian troops were besieging Geneborg and requesting the Chinese army to immediately send troops for rescue.

However, the Burgundian army outside Genecastle only stopped and faced off outside the city for half a morning, and then suddenly withdrew eastward.

The defenders of Geneborg had just heaved a sigh of relief at the enemy's withdrawal, but suddenly remembered something.

"The direction of the Burgundian army's withdrawal seems a bit wrong, right? Shouldn't they be withdrawing westward?" A small officer in Geneborg looked at the back of the Burgundian army that had almost disappeared from sight, and muttered a few words.

Beside the young officer, the commander of the Geneborg garrison became increasingly uneasy. He suddenly raised his head and said, "Oh God! They are going to cross the border and plunder our territory."
The Count of Burgundy has become the weakest among many countries. The Principality of Burgundy is its suzerain state, but after all, there is a suzerain relationship between the two countries. Therefore, the strength of the Duke of Burgundy does not mean that the Count of Burgundy is strong. Compared with the Duchy of Swabia, the Count of Burgundy is only a small player.

It is precisely because of the disparity in national power that Swabia has always acted as an invader. In the past few decades, Swabia has peeked at the territory of the County of Burgundy more than once or twice.

Also because Swabia is always on the offensive side, Burgundy is always on tight defense on the border between the two countries and is always ready to deal with Swabian intrusions; on the other hand, in Swabia, except for a group of 100 peasants and soldiers who sneaked to the southwest a few years ago for a small fight, no Burgundians have dared to take the initiative to invade the border for decades. Therefore, Swabia's western border is not well-defended, with neither strong city walls nor strong military garrison.

The average army would not have the guts to go to the jackal's den to seek death, but this time they encountered an extraordinary army.

When forty-seven two-horse iron four-wheel carriages suddenly appeared in the Swabian border of Buvan County, the Swabians had not yet reacted. They thought it was their own army returning victoriously.

It was not until the large motorcade slowly approached that the Swabian citizens who walked out of the village and manor to watch on the roadside saw the unfamiliar flag and the unfamiliar faces under the flag.

  "Burgundians?"

   "Burgundians!"

"Oh my God! The Burgundians are coming!"

The people of the Swabian County fled in all directions, hiding in the village manor and closing the gates...

Ron let go of the reins The rope allowed the horse under him to walk freely, then he raised his hand and stretched, rubbed his lower back, and laughed loudly, "Swabia, we are here again!"

"Master, do you want me to lead people to capture that village? Give me twenty people, and I will capture the village immediately!" Ron pointed at the village surrounded by wooden fences where the county residents were hiding, and his desire to burn the village became stronger and stronger.

Matt glanced at the village. Such a small place no longer aroused his interest at all. "What's the hurry? Go to their county town of Bufan first. After the Swabian soldiers are suppressed, I'll let you grab all you can!"

"Matthew, send the order to speed up. Today we are holding a dinner at the foot of Bufan City!" Art said, kicking his horse and running towards the Swabian border town of Bufan.

After half a year of hard fighting, it’s time for the army to rest and relax for a while...
