Chapter 513: Lure a child into school

Early on the next morning, Ron rode towards Beiguan Army Fort. In addition to informing Angus and other high-ranking officers that Art was going south, they also had to select ten soldiers with hunter backgrounds, except Matthew, to accompany them to the south of the valley as escorts.

Matt called George to his side after breakfast, intending to inform him about sending him to school.

"...Father, are you looking for me?" George gently pushed open the door of the office room on the first floor of the wooden castle, stuck his head in and looked around. Camille, who followed behind, saluted Art and left.

"George, come here." Art called George to come to him.

"Early this morning, I heard your mother say that you ran away to play elsewhere. Tell your father, what did you do?" Looking at the unwiped dirt on George's trouser legs and the dirt remaining in his nails, Art asked without any intention of blaming him. Then he lifted George into his lap.

"That's right, father. I went to the open space with some of my friends who played well near the wooden castle to have a sword show."

"Sword show?" Although Art knew that his son liked to dance with swords, he didn't expect that this little guy was so obsessed with swordsmanship.

"Tell your father, who will win this sword showdown?" Atrao asked with interest.

"Of course I won. Even the kid who was several years older than me couldn't beat me." George looked proud.

It was not that Matt had never seen George playing with other children. In his memory, the older child's qualifications were much higher than George's, and he would never lose to his usually pampered son. There is only one explanation - that guy deliberately gave up to George in the competition.

Although George is not very old now, he has become competitive and eager to achieve success. Not only is this not conducive to his growth, but it is also not something that the heir to the throne of the Earl of Wales deserves to brag about and show off.

After thinking for a moment, Art said to George: "George, do you know why you won?"

George looked puzzled, turned to look at Art, and said, "Because I am better than him!"

“Because you are the son of an earl!” Art then corrected George’s view.

The young George naturally didn’t know why Art disagreed with him, so he just hung his head quietly.

"Child, you have to know. The reason why you can win now is not that you are strong or have superb swordsmanship skills, but that they deliberately let you go because of your identity. Father is telling you this now, and you may not understand. But you have to remember that just defeating others in swordsmanship is not a glorious thing. To win, you have to win people's hearts." Art said to George with a serious face.

"The human heart?" George felt a little curious, "What is the human heart?"

"Do you know why my father was able to lead the army to defeat the enemy and make everyone loyal to me?"

George shook his head helplessly, with a look of admiration flashing in his eyes. Because in his eyes, his father was a strong, brave, and victorious man.

“Because his father won the hearts of the people.”

Said this, George seemed to understand a little, but still could not understand.

"That's all for today. You will gradually understand when you grow up." Art put George aside and went straight to the table nearby to pour himself a glass of Welsh beer.

"My father called you here today mainly because he wanted to tell you something." Art felt refreshed after taking a sip of beer, and his tired face regained some radiance. "You are not young anymore. I have discussed with your mother and plan to send you to Valley Academy to receive education with other children."

“Father, you mean that I want to stay with those pastors who are lifeless and serious all day long.” As soon as Art finished speaking, George resisted. Because he heard from other children that they were "forced" by the bachelors to learn arithmetic and history and other boring things all day long. Moreover, George himself secretly went outside the school window to "verify" what those guys said was true. Therefore, this wealthy young man, who was used to being wild outside all day long, hated the school so much that he didn't want to stay with those boring clergymen.

After some dissuasion from Art, George still refused to listen and was as stubborn as a donkey.

"What do you think of this?" Art had no choice but to deal with his son, so he came up with a plan. "If you agree to go to school and study hard, father will take the time to personally teach you how to use a sword and how to control a horse~"

George, who was sitting on a chair on one side, suddenly jumped up and asked excitedly: "Father, are you telling the truth?"

"Father will never break his promise if you promise me to go to school and study hard."

  ………

"Dear, you still have a way..."

After George left, Lottie, who had been hiding outside the door and eavesdropping for a long time, came in.

"Now you can rest assured, the child has finally agreed to go to school~" Art took a deep breath, feeling a little headache for his son.

Lotti walked up behind Art and rubbed his sore shoulders and neck.

"George had originally intended to go to school. Ever since he heard other children say that dealing with the dull and boring priests in school was no better than dealing with the devil. In addition to practicing calligraphy and counting and reciting words from the Bible every day, he was not as comfortable playing and playing with his friends." Lottie kept mumbling.

"No wonder he is so resistant to going to school, that's why."

"I think you might as well change the model of the school, so that the children may be more willing to take the initiative to receive education. No one can bear to deal with church people all day long, let alone these children~"

Lotti's words actually gave Art a wake-up call.

"You are right. Now that the place is bigger and there are more people, it is time for the school's education model to change accordingly. Let's start with the school reform after I return from surveying the valley. I went to the school a few days ago to have a look. Because there were too many people, the school buildings had to be used in batches. It is time to expand the scale of the school, so that more talents can be cultivated."

Lottie nodded in agreement, and was happy that George no longer received that old-fashioned education.

"I have also discovered a problem recently, like those groups of people who have received school education before, except for doing things according to the regulations of the school, their brains are not flexible enough. Except for certain fixed positions that are suitable for them, it is really difficult to hold a big position. For example, the military judge Matthew who studied in the school before, this guy has nothing to say about his performance of the task, but his brain is not flexible enough. "

 ‘What about Ron?’ Lottie asked.

"Ron is different. He has been following me all the time, and his mind is much more flexible. Otherwise, I would not have let him be my knight..."
